The Titrando from Metrohm is a family of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) compliant titrators.
The Titrando has a monitoring log that can allow the instrument to warn the user when calibrations are due; when a service visit is required; when a titrant has expired or needs restandardisation; when an electrode has lost efficiency; or to ensure that the user is using the correct electrode for the titration.
All the titrant-dispensing burettes have data chips that store information about the titrants that they contain, the expiry date, and restandardisation dates of the titrants.
These data chips ensure that a user will not inadvertently attempt a titration with the incorrect titrant.
It is possible to expand the number of burettes to 12; this means a burette can be dedicated a to each application.
The Titrando also has a polarised electrode input for Karl Fischer titration.
The resolution of the Titrando is 0.1mV, which makes it ideal for ion-selective measurements as well as titration.
Using advanced electronics, Metrohm has been able to reduce the measuring amplifier to the size of a postage stamp.
This means that the complete measuring amplifier fits in the electrode cable head.
It is automatically recognised and identified by its serial number.
Directly in the sensor, the analogue/digital converter of the latest generation in the 854 Iconnect converts the analogue measuring signal into a digital data flow.
Digital data transmission means that the measuring signal is no longer susceptible to electrostatic influences.
Interference-free transmission can now always be guaranteed, no matter how long the electrode cable.
With the 854 Iconnect the sensor and measuring amplifier are always calibrated together and the calibration data stored in the intelligent electrode.
As the measuring amplifier is no longer built into the instrument, the electrode and 854 Iconnect can be used together with different titrators.
The calibration procedure is no longer associated with a particular titrator.
For unskilled users, the touch-control version allows titrations to be done by simply pushing the start key.
When the Titrando is being used in a process-control function the results can be sent to the pager of the process operator/engineer, at the point of control, so that they can take any corrective action in the production process.
