Metrohm is offering the 905 Titrando for dynamic (DET) and monotonic (MET) titration, endpoint titration (SET), measurements with ion-sensitive electrodes, dosing functions (DOS) and liquid handling.
The 905 Titrando has four MSB connections, a USB connection and is Itrode ready.
Itrodes are intelligent electrodes that allow the storage of important sensor data as article and serial numbers, calibration data, calibration history, working life and calibration validity period.
All the sensor data is read in automatically when the Itrode is connected to the Titrando.
Mix-ups or editing errors are therefore eliminated.
The electrode is identified automatically.
If the type of electrode is not the same as that defined in the method, then the user is informed.
This means that it is not possible to use an incorrect electrode.
Monitoring functions allow the exclusion of electrodes whose calibration data lies outside the limits or whose calibration period has expired.
If the sensor is used with different instruments or to prevent inexperienced users from having to calibrate the electrode on their own instruments, the electrode can be calibrated on a different instrument under defined conditions.
The calibration data stored in the chip makes the electrode transferable; it does not need to be recalibrated each time it is used with a different instrument.
Despite its new digital measuring interface and intelligent sensors, the Titrando with combined analogue and digital measuring amplifier also supports conventional sensors.
This consists of one high impedance and one polarised measuring input, a separate reference input and an input for a Pt 1000 or NTC temperature sensor.
The resolution of the inputs is 0.1mV or 0.001pH.
Up to two galvanically separated measuring interfaces can be installed.
The Titrando supports the titration modes DET (dynamic equivalence point titration), MET (monotonic equivalence point titration) and SET (titration to one or two preset endpoints), which covers all potentiometric titrations.
With the MEAS measuring mode, pH, potential and temperature can be measured.
The direct determination of the concentration with ion-sensitive electrodes is also possible.
Basic daily laboratory operations such as pipetting, transferring, dosing, dispensing and diluting are possible with the new liquid handling functions of the Titrando.
Whether you connect the Dosino directly to the Titrando or carry out the operations with a USB sample processor, both systems guarantee high accuracy and precision throughout the whole range from 10ul to 100ml.
The new Metrohm serial bus (MSB) has been developed for controlling peripheral devices.
With the four built-in MSBs up to four Dosinos or Dosimats, four magnetic or rod stirrers and four remote boxes for automation can be controlled.
Plug-and-play functionality saves having to configure peripheral devices manually.
The Titrando automatically recognises the device that has been connected.
Two USB ports are available for communication with balances and printers.
Laboratory balances can be connected via an RS-232 converter.
With the Titrando, dosing takes place with Dosino and dosing units that can be mounted directly onto the reagent bottle.
This means that dosing requires no more benchtop space than the reagent bottle itself.
The Dosino is provided with the latest electronics and micro-mechanisms.
The dosing unit can be quickly exchanged.
It is also equipped with a data chip containing all the information about the reagent and dosing unit that is required for the titration.
Each dosing unit has its own serial and cylinder numbers and is supplied with an individual certificate.
The user is also able to choose how they wish to operate the Titrando system.
The touch control is an ergonomic and modern operating element.
It can be held in the hand, put on the bench or mounted on the wall.
The Titrando is PC compatible.
With the PC Control software the Titrando can be controlled via mouse clicks.
The latest Tiamo titration software is also available.
In addition to the standard functions for controlling a Titrando, Tiamo offers additional functions.
For example, the user can make use of a client-server database or a Titrando can work with two titration cells simultaneously.
Increasing numbers of samples, time-consuming sample preparation steps and unattended overnight operation quickly justify the use of a sample changer.
The Titrando has the necessary intelligence for controlling sample changers.
No matter whether large or small sample capacities, one or two work stations, measuring out the sample, sample preparation, liquid handling, rinsing and calibrating the electrodes - the USB sample processors offer a high degree of automation.
