Thermo Fisher Scientific has announced that Analab Chile, a South American analytical testing laboratory, has selected Samplemanager Lims for use in its laboratories.
Analab Chile is a contract testing laboratory for microbiological and chemical quality control and food safety.
Located in Santiago, Chile, Analab was founded in 1988 to focus on analysis and certification of products for export and domestic consumption including human and animal food products, wine and alcohol, drinking and waste water, agricultural chemicals and fertiliser.
As part of a major investment programme, Analab is installing an enterprise resource planning system (ERP) across its organisation and a Lims in its laboratory.
The Lims implementation is intended to automate the processes from sample collection and results to report generation for Analab's customers.
Thermo Scientific Samplemanager Lims is also being used by Analab to facilitate its quality control tasks.
Since Analab Chile is accredited to ISO 17025, Samplemanager Lims will facilitate the documentation and compliance requirements for ISO 17025.
Luz Maria Espinoza, IT manager from Analab Chile, said: 'The decision to invest in a major IT project during 2009 allows Analab to continue to expand its service offering to existing and future customers.
'Analab has been partnering with Thermo Fisher Scientific for many years and has relied on many of the company's technology solutions in its laboratories.
'Thermo Scientific Samplemanager is the latest installation, which, with the help of the company's services consultants, will help us streamline Analab's operations.
'Samplemanager will automate the laboratory process and will allow us to continue to demonstrate compliance for customer projects,' she added.
The implementation project includes integration of Thermo Scientific Samplemanager Lims with the ERP system and a range of Thermo Scientific laboratory products including two gas chromatographs, one LC/MS system, one HPLC with fluorescence and DAD detectors, atomic absorption and UV-Vis instruments.
Following the implementation, Analab will be able to give customers direct access to the Lims via the internet, whereby they can track samples and access historic data.
This integration of a Thermo Scientific Lims solution, various laboratory instruments and an ERP system is an example of Thermo Scientific Connects in action.
Thermo Scientific Connects is a set of offerings that uses Thermo Fisher's breadth of Lims and chromatography data systems (CDS) capabilities, as well as expertise in enterprise systems integration to help streamline and improve the transfer of knowledge between laboratory-generated data and enterprise-level information systems.
Connects assists organisations in integrating application-specific workflows, thereby transforming laboratory data into relevant business information and maximising a company's enterprise system investments to better support critical management decisions in a resource-constrained environment.
