The IxonEM+ is a back-lluminated EMCCD scientific digital camera that is available from Andor Technology.
When used on the IxonEM+, EMCCD technology can be applied in a quantitative fashion to meet a variety of experimental requirements, ranging from single photon counting experiments through to slower scan, true 16-bit dynamic range measurements.
The camera is also equipped with technology that offers anti-ageing protection of the sensor and automated user-initiated recalibration of EMCCD gain.
The vacuum housing helps to ensure complete protection of the back-illuminated sensor, so it will not suffer QE performance degradation.
The IxonEM+ combines photon collection efficiencies of up to 95 per cent QE with single photon sensitivity through virtual elimination of the read noise detection limit.
It offers multiple readout speeds up to 10MHz, a choice of EMCCD or conventional CCD output amplifiers, true 16-bit digitisation and benefits from negligible dark current with thermoelectric cooling down to -100C.
