United Electronic Industries (UEI) has released an application note detailing how to interface the company's UEILogger data logger cubes to a user's host computer over a cellular network
The data logger is an ideal device to acquire both analogue and digital data in locations that are not easily or reliably accessible.
Examples include long-haul trucks, remote weather stations, remote pumping stations, cell towers, wind-driven power plants and much more.
Using a high speed Cellular/CDMA/GSM link allows the user to download data from the logger as well as check the logger status from any internet connection.
This eliminates the cost, time, and in some cases risk of visiting the UEILogger installation site.
The UEILogger offers a unique combination of ruggedness, flexibility, easy-of-use and low cost.
The logger is matched to the user application by installing the appropriate I/O boards.
With over 20 different I/O boards available, there's sure to be a configuration to meet almost any application.
The user then configures the logger using a simple and intuitive Windows based application.
A single 4x4.1x5.8inch UEILogger cube may provide up 150 A/D channels or 288 digital I/O.
