Falcao Bauer has selected Thermo Fisher Scientific's Samplemanager Lims (laboratory information management system) for use in its laboratories in Brazil.
Falcao Bauer is a South American provider of services for instrument calibration and quality control.
The new project is Thermo Fisher's largest Lims contract in Brazil to date.
As part of a 12-month project, Falcao Bauer will integrate Thermo Scientific Samplemanager Lims with its Newage enterprise resource planning (ERP) system across its 16 laboratories in Brazil.
The Lims implementation will automate the process from sample collection to results and report generation for Falcao Bauer's customers.
The implementation project will also include integration of Thermo Scientific's Samplemanager Lims with a range of laboratory instruments, including chromatography data systems (CDS) and ICP analytical instruments.
The system will improve productivity and increase accuracy in the company's laboratories, enhancing efficiency and the quality of service provided by Falcao Bauer.
Christiano Motta, IT coordinator for Falcao Bauer, said: 'The decision to invest in a standardised Lims solution that can be leveraged throughout Falcao Bauer's operations enables us to continue to develop our service offering to existing and future customers.
'Samplemanager Lims will help us to streamline Falcao Bauer's operations and improve the automation of the laboratory functions, resulting in increased productivity and enhanced data sharing benefits.' Falcao Bauer provides consulting services for engineering, environmental quality and petrochemical industries.
It also undertakes a variety of materials and products testing for construction, chemical analysis and quality assurance of materials.
This integration of a Thermo Scientific Lims solution with various laboratory instruments, as well as an ERP system, is a vivid example of Thermo Scientific Connects in action.
Thermo Scientific Connects is a set of offerings that leverage the company's breadth of laboratory Lims and CDS capabilities, as well as expertise in enterprise systems integration, to help streamline and improve the transfer of knowledge between laboratory-generated data and enterprise-level information systems.
Connects helps organisations integrate application-specific workflows to transform laboratory data into relevant business information and maximise their enterprise-system investments to better support critical management decisions in today's resource-constrained environment.
Dave Champagne, vice-president and general manager for Thermo Fisher's informatics business, said: 'The integration of the Lims with the company's instrumentation and enterprise systems will provide Falcao Bauer with the means for efficiently exchanging data and effectively sharing information throughout the organisation.'
