Kit includes reagents for self-spotting high quality oligonucleotide microarrays on slides coated with an active surface chemistry suitable for the covalent immobilisation of oligonucleotides
Schott Nexterion will launch a complete kit-based solution for spotting superior and highly reproducible 70mer oligonucleotide microarrays at the Chips to Hits conference in Boston.
"We intend to address the growing need for improved sensitivity, reproducibility and data quality.
"The opening of the world's most advanced slide production plant in Jena/Germany on 1 October 2004 contributes to this goal and shows our strong commitment to the technology", said Lutz Wehmeier, Schott Nexterion's general manager.
The new Nexterion 70mer Oligo Microarraying Kit will include fully optimised microarray slides and reagents for self-spotting high quality oligonucleotide microarrays.
The slides are coated with an active surface chemistry that offers significant advantages over conventional microarray slide surfaces and is particularly suitable for the covalent immobilisation of amino-modified and unmodified oligonucleotides.
Benefits of the active chemistry include excellent and reproducible spot size and morphologies, superior signal-to-background ratios and low non-specific binding, it says.
Another major benefit of the new microarray kit is that the individual kit components cover the most important steps of the microarray process chain: spotting, pre-hybridisation, hybridisation and washing.
The Nexterion 70mer Oligo Microarraying Kit will be available in various kit sizes and formats to offer the user a high degree of flexibility.
All kit components are subject to stringent quality control to ensure the best possible performance for the user and to significantly reduce the time required for protocol optimisation.
The microarray slides will also be available with a barcode upon request.
The company says the Nexterion 70mer Oligo Microarraying Kit represents an important milestone towards achieving microarray standardisation and data reproducibility and further underlines Schott's commitment to supplying high quality, user-friendly microarray solutions.
The kit has been developed in cooperation with Operon Biotechnologies.
Further products will be launched by Schott Nexterion at the end of 2005.
