Watson-Marlow has launched Pureweld thermoplastic elastomer tubing, designed for peristaltic pumping in biotechnology and pharmaceutical processes.
The pure thermoplastic elastomer contains no animal-derived materials to leach into duty fluids.
It can be securely welded, allowing complete, connector-free fluid paths to be assembled very quickly.
Pureweld demonstrates very low internal spallation in peristaltic pumps.
The tubing is said to offer the following advantages: easy to weld and heat-seal; FDA and USP Class VI certification; no animal-derived components; and can be sterilised by gamma radiation, autoclave and ethylene oxide.
Applications include: cell media and fermentation; sterile filling and dispensing; high-purity water transfer; vaccine production; fluid transfer; and filtration.
