Micronic Europe BV will display its products for traceable sample storage at the International Society for Biological and Environmental Repositories (ISBER 2010) in Rotterdam, from 11-14 May.
Visitors will be able to review and discuss Micronic's products for addressing sample-storage challenges in biobanking and repository operation.
Micronic offers a full range of biological and cryogenic sample-storage tubes, sealing arrangements, tube racks, tube sorters and Track-IT - a new sample-management system interfaced to a 2D code reader that allows the user to reliably and efficiently organise and track individual samples.
Also on display for the first time will be the MX4 - a semi-automated sample handling and verification system.
The MX4 allows users to import a worklist for sample cherry picking, step through each tube pick and place, verify each tube movement with an integrated 2D barcode rack reader and provide an output file of the destination rack content.
The MX4 tube picking is controlled by the operator and allows full control over the speed and throughput of the system.
Manufactured in a Class 7 cleanroom production facility - Micronic screw-top tubes are certified RNase/DNase free and non-toxic according to the USP class VI test, making them ideal high-integrity storage vessels for liquid or solid biological samples at ultra-low temperatures.
Each Micronic screw-top tube has a 2D code that identifies the sample, its co-ordinates within a 96-tube rack, the particular rack and the location of the rack in the freezer.
Incorporating a novel single-turn screw-cap mechanism, Micronic screw-top tubes ensure that accessing samples is a simple and rapid process.
The internal V shape of each Micronic screw-top tube ensures the lowest possible dead volume and maximum sample recovery.
They are designed so 96 individual tubes can be fitted into a standard footprint rack, which optimises freezer space and ensures automation compatibility.
