Infracal TOG/TPH analysers from Wilks Enterprise are providing field-proven methodology to assist with the clean-up of the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
The analysers are used by oil companies on offshore oil platforms and in refineries for easy, on-site infrared measurement of total oil and grease (TOG) and total petroleum hydrocarbon (TPH) concentration levels in water and soil samples, as well as wastewater effluents.
They are ideal for use by non-technical personnel and total analysis time is 10-15 minutes, which eliminates the need to wait for off-site laboratory results.
The Infracal TOG/TPH analyser models are available for use with a variety of extracting solvents such as hexane, pentane, Vertrel MCA, hydrocarbon-free grade of perchloroethylene, S-316 or AK-225.
The compact and rugged analysers are portable (operable from a 12VDC power supply) and weigh less than 5lb.
They have no moving parts requiring alignment or adjustment, and pushbutton, user-friendly operation makes them easy to use with minimal training.
The analysers can read out in infrared absorption values or they can be calibrated to display concentrations directly in any desired format, such as part per million (ppm) or milligram/kg.
A range of accessories, such as printer and carrying case, is available.
