Supercritical Fluid Technologies has introduced a self-contained liquid carbon dioxide (CO2) pump for use in supercritical fluid extraction, supercritical fluid reaction chemistry and chromatography.
The SFT-10 pump can pressurise CO2 up to 10,000psi (69MPa) at flow rates from 0.01ml/min to 24.0ml/min.
Advanced Peltier (thermoelectric) technology makes it possible to achieve high pressure without the need for an external cooling bath.
These characteristics make the SFT-10 suitable for use in high-pressure applications.
The SFT-10 utilises dual-sapphire syringe pump technology to rapidly achieve high pressures.
The Peltier chiller is claimed to offer an excellent cooling capability.
It maintains the temperature at the pump heads low enough to ensure that the CO2 remains liquid.
The standard operating mode is 'constant pressure', where the pump will maintain a pressure set point.
An optional constant flow mode, from 0.01ml/min to 24.0ml/min, is available.
The SFT-10 may be acquired as a standalone CO2 pump or used as part of the company's SFT-100/SFT-100XW supercritical fluid extractors.
