Cub Engenharia e Comercio, a distributor of Cambridge Sensotec's SF6 multimeter, has secured a deal with Brazil energy transmission organisation Companhia de Transmissao de Energia Electrica Paulista.
When representatives of Companhia de Transmissao de Energia Electrica Paulista (CTEEP) began a review of its GIS substations, they were looking for an instrument that was reliable, portable and easy to use.
During a transformers conference, representatives from Cub Engenharia e Comercio met with the CTEEP representatives and introduced them to the Rapidox SF6 multimeter, an instrument designed to measure the condition of the sulphur hexafluoride used in GIS substations.
CUB demonstrated the Rapidox unit and CTEEP decided it was the correct instrument for its application and commissioned CUB Engenharia to supply the multimeter and train its staff.
The Rapidox SF6 multimeter tests SF6 by measuring the percentage of sulphur hexafluoride, the ppm level of SO2 and the moisture content of the gas.
The presence of SO2 or moisture in SF6 can indicate faulty equipment, an air leak and a breakdown in the dielectric strength of SF6.
