A South American oil refiner used Cambridge Viscosity's explosion-prrof enclosure, Viscopro 2000 Atex Gc, to improve the accuracy of asphalt viscosity control in a challenging processing environment.
Refinery engineers said Cambridge's explosion-proof viscometer sensors have long been used in refineries and other difficult environments because of their reliability and that the new development enables full local control.
Cambridge's Viscopro 2000 Atex Gc utilises a purged cabinet for electronic installations in hazardous environments.
The entire viscometer system can be installed in difficult Zone 2 environments where local display, interface and controls are necessary.
The first six installations of the new system will be in a Latin American refinery, measuring asphalt streams at multiple locations, facilitating tight control of the final product.
