Systech Illinois has revealed that its gas analysis equipment has been utilised by Loughry Campus in Northern Ireland to evaluate food packaging designs.
Loughry Campus offers training and educational programmes dedicated to food management.
It offers students access to a purpose-built food technology centre and laboratories where they can develop competencies in product development, consumer analysis, process control and optimisation and developing packaging and labelling for foods, among others.
To analyse gas headspace and oxygen permeation of packaging, Loughry Campus has selected the Gaspace Advance oxygen and carbon dioxide analyser and the 8700 oxygen permeation analyser, with an additional 20 adapters.
The oxygen permeation analyser is said to be capable of measuring wide ranges of oxygen permeability in almost any type of food packaging.
It can complete up to 11 sample tests simultaneously and provide data in three to 12 hours.
