The Gerstel PYRO enables highly flexible automated pyrolysis of solids and liquids at up to 1000 °C.
PYRO can be added to the GERSTEL Thermal Desorption Unit (TDU), performing standard, sequential and fractionated pyrolysis.
Using an initial thermal desorption step, volatile compounds in the sample can be determined and removed from the sample providing a clean pyrogram that is easy to interpret.
Pyrolysis break-down products are transferred directly to the GC/MS system for best possible results without analyte discrimination.
Up to 196 samples can be pyrolysed automatically using the MultiPurpose Sampler (MPS) under MAESTRO software control or integrated with the GC/MS software.
The multiple pyrolysis techniques available include:
- Pulsed pyrolysis
- Sequential pyrolysis
- Fractionated pyrolysis
- Thermal desorption with solvent venting and pyrolysis of the same sample
- Split- or splitless operation
- Selectable cryo trapping
