Scottish Agricultural College Veterinary Science Division laboratory upgrades from Dos- to Windows-based Lims, selecting newer version from same supplier
The Scottish Agricultural College Veterinary Science Division (SACVSD) laboratories has selected AIS Lims version 6.5 for its latest upgrade.
With a disease surveillance unit at Auchincruive near Ayr and other centres at Aberdeen, Dumfries, Edinburgh, St Boswells, Inverness, Perth, and Thurso, SACVSD laboratories is responsible for much of the large animal disease surveillance work carried out in Scotland.
The labs analyse many samples from veterinary practices but are also responsible for analysing samples derived from nationally recognised health schemes monitoring sheep, goats and cattle for various diseases. "The laboratories were already using AIS Lims for Dos and version 6.5 was chosen as its natural progressor; for its functionality and ability to analyse a diverse range of samples," explained Dai Darkin, director of AIS.
"The system posed some interesting installation challenges because the configuration of AIS Lims is data driven and veterinary analysis differs significantly from other QA labs.
The new software could access the existing DOS database and migrating the users from the old Dos Lims to the new Windows Lims was a quick and relatively painless process" This latest contract, along with the recent decision to use AIS LIMS 6.5 for all the Scottish Public Analyst Laboratories ensures that AIS maintains a strong presence in Scotland.
