The new Quadrature Encoder PC data acquisition cards from ComputerBoards allow encoder signals such as displacement data to be ported into PC applications without the need for add-on hardware - encoder support is built into the boards.
Many machine control applications require encoder add-ons to an analogue data acquisition board: a simple counter which cannot sense direction can often lead to errors.
Now there is a straightforward, dedicated approach to bringing encoder signals into desktop or notebook PC-based applications, ensuring precision measurement of displacement.
ComputerBoards' Quad Encoder Cards are available with 2 or 4 channels, single-ended or differential. They have 24-bit pre-settable hardware counters, so they can cope with very large counts, and they can handle a 1.
25 MHz input pulse rate if required.
They also support an index pin, so count datums can be used.
The boards are directly supported by ComputerBoards' Universal Library software, which allows them to be run with all major languages and operating systems, including HP-VEE.
The Quad Encoder boards, Universal Library software and the full range of ComputerBoards data acquisition products are supplied and supported in the UK by Adept Scientific plc.
