A variety of solutions for accurate systematic chemical naming and patenting through software and expert user review
Advanced Chemistry Development, which offers the accurate systematic naming software ACD/Name, announces the release of version 7.0.
This intuitive software provides two types of systematic names (IUPAC and Index) according to IUPAC recommendations and CAS nomenclature, and has the ability to derive accurate structures from complex names.
Developed for chemists and patent agents, this powerful naming engine is said to reliably and consistently derive accurate chemical names for almost any organic, biochemical, organometallic, or inorganic structure, saving endless hours of research.
Name includes the chemical drawing package ChemSketch, Dictionary, and Name to Structure in one comprehensive program.
Name's feature-rich interface allows the user to specify naming options from IUPAC or Index preferences and to assign stereodescriptors and name tautomers.
With Name, chemists are able to reach their development goals more rapidly, and much unnecessary tedium is removed from the patenting process.
The Dictionary is a perfect complement that is also included with Name.
With a substantial increase in the data of Dictionary 7.0, users can search for name queries or structures within a chemical database of over 103,000 trivial, common, brand, and other non-systematic names and assigned compound numbers.
Advanced capabilities new to Name 7.0 include improvements in the assignment of stereodescriptors, naming numerous natural products and biochemicals, and the ability to name radicals and charged structures.
"With the most recent version of Name, we have extended the capabilities forward again.
Specifically, version 7.0 charges up the world of computer-based systematic nomenclature by delivering capability for the handling of various radicals, and anionic and cationic structures.
For teaching purposes we have included the option to view the explanation for the assignment of any stereodescriptor within a systematic name.
This will further enable our mission of supporting the teaching of systematic nomenclature," said Antony Williams, VP of scientific development and Marketing at ACD/Labs.
Four new special ACD/Labs' Name add-ins for integration with MDL Isis provide enhanced capabilities for name generation.
ACD/IUPAC Name add-in for Isis/Base, ACD/Index Name add-in for Isis/Base, ACD/IUPAC Name add-in for Isis/Draw, and ACD/Index Name add-in for Isis/Draw allow database administrators to set strictly defined naming preferences as a corporate standard to ensure that accurate and consistent name generation is maintained for Isis databases across an enterprise.
ACD/Labs is now offering a new chemical naming service.
This service allows chemists and patent agents to submit organic, biochemical, or organometallic structures to ACD/Labs's experts who name the compounds using its software.
Once a name is generated, ACD's experts review the name to certify that it is correct.
