Agilent Bioanalyser, Agilent LabChip Kit and Ambion's RNA-related reagents offer biochemists better tools for RNA evaluation
Agilent Technologies and Ambion have announced a co-marketing agreement involving the Agilent 2100 bioanalyser, Agilent RNA LabChip kits, and Ambion's RNA-related reagents.
This combination of products provides biochemists with the tools to better qualify and more precisely control experiments, leading to more meaningful and clear-cut results.
The RNA LabChip kits are developed and manufactured by Caliper Technology, Agilent's collaboration partner in the Lab-on-a-Chip business.
The recently announced RNA 6000 Nano LabChip kit, an improved version of the RNA 6000 LabChip kit, has been specially designed to evaluate RNA samples before using them in downstream experiments such as microarrays.
Ambion has developed a large portfolio of products useful for RNA experiments, including the RNA ladder used in the Agilent RNA 6000 Nano LabChip kit and Ambion's RNase Zap, a reagent that can prevent RNA degradation.
The co-marketing activities between Agilent and Ambion will allow both companies to share in direct marketing, conduct market research and publicize Agilent's Lab-on-a-Chip and Ambion's RNA-related products.
"A key advantage of the LabChip technology for RNA analysis includes the ability to access the quality of an RNA sample," said Bill Buffington, vice president and general manager of Agilent's Life Sciences Division.
"Since RNA is a labile substance, it is important to both protect RNA from degradation and establish the quality of RNA before using it in a time-consuming and expensive downstream experiment.
Customers can use Ambion's RNase Zap to protect RNA from RNase degradation.
The RNA 6000 LabChip kit is better for assessing RNA quality than gel electrophoresis because it is more sensitive and yields more objective results." "Ambion has adopted the Agilent 2100 bioanalysr and RNA LabChip kits to control the quality of our RNA-containing products.
The Agilent system allows us to easily generate electronic reports that demonstrate the high quality of the RNA products that we market," said Matt Winkler, CEO and CSO of Ambion.
"At Ambion, we understand the challenges of RNA handling and analysis and believe that the products provided by Agilent and Ambion will help ensure that our customers will generate higher quality results."
