Chooses additional In Cell analyser to support internal drug discovery programme and a new screening collaboration business
Norak Biosciences has purchased a second In Cell analyser 3000 system from Amersham Biosciences to further support its internal drug discovery programme and new screening collaboration business.
Norak's purchase of an additional In Cell analyser 3000 imaging system will enable the company to expand its capacity for performing high throughput, high content subcellular screening for its internal drug discovery programme.
The second cellular imaging system will also support its new screening collaboration business, which will provide the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries with access to Norak's Transfluor technology and its large, diverse compound library.
"We have a great deal of experience already with the In Cell analyser 3000 and have been very impressed by its high throughput and sensitivity ideally matched with the benefits of our Transfluor technology," says Terry Willard, executive vice president at Norak Biosciences.
"We have already optimised many applications of Transfluor for maximal performance on the In Cell analyser 3000.
The additional capacity of a second system will support our new screening collaboration business with its rapid imaging capabilities." "Norak's choice of the In Cell analyser 3000 to drive its new drug screening service demonstrates the value and leadership of our advanced imaging system in the drug discovery marketplace," says Cathy Howat, vice president marketing cell analysis and screening at Amersham Biosciences.
"The combination of In Cell analyser 3000's high throughput and exquisite sensitivity has allowed Norak to optimise the performance of its Transfluor technology and to expand into contract screening." Norak's Transfluor technology is a patented, universal GPCR drug discovery technology designed to be the most direct and accurate method for screening potential drug candidates against GPCR targets, whether known or orphan.
Amersham Biosciences's In Cell analyser 3000 is a highly advanced imaging tool that uses a laser-based confocal imaging system to enable high throughout, high content testing of drug compounds on live or fixed cells. The combination of rapid imaging and sophisticated computer algorithms capable of real-time image analysis enables the In Cell analyser 3000 to generate and interpret more than 35,000 three-colour cellular images in less than 24 hours.
