Advanced Photonix, represented in the UK and Ireland by AP Technologies, has acquired the outstanding capital stock of Texas Optoelectronics (TOI)
Texas Optoelectronics (TOI) was founded in 1981 and is a privately owned developer and manufacturer of optoelectronic components and assemblies.
TOI is a preferred military supplier for custom designed displays, assemblies, training devices and detectors for laser munitions.
In addition, it has leveraged its experience within the military and aerospace markets to develop customised solutions for customers in other market segments, including medical systems, laboratory instrumentation, security, commercial and industrial automation.
In commenting on the purchase, Brock Koren, Advanced Photonix's president and chief executive officer, stated, "The TOI acquisition significantly increases Advanced Photonix's penetration of the global military market while broadening our portfolio of customers in the commercial, medical and industrial markets.
We look forward to welcoming the existing TOI customers into the Advanced Photonix family of customers and promise to offer the same superior quality, price and delivery that has been TOI's trademark." Paul Ludwig, API's chief operating officer, went on to say, "Our goal is to increase the manufacturing and process capability within the company; the TOI acquisition helps to accomplish that goal by increasing our capabilities for supplying higher-end assemblies and subsystems to a variety of optoelectronic markets.

The TOI acquisition is a step toward realising that vision." Advanced Photonix is a supplier of silicon-based electro-optical products and design solutions to a global OEM customer base.
Products include the patented Large Area Avalanche Photodiode (LAAPD) and Filtrode detectors, as well as PIN photodiodes.
