A manufacturer of precision dispensing syringe systems found standard valves were not able to perform as desired, but found the solution in a customised product
When a manufacturer of precision dispensing syringe systems found standard valves were not able to perform as desired and required something unique, they turned to Bio-Chem Valve.
The company custom modified an existing valve product to create a compact, three-way dual solenoid valve.
The valve needed to be assembled on top of multiple syringes, and mounted side-by-side, while functioning in usual aspirate and dispense modes, as well as a wash cycle.
Flexibility was also necessary to accommodate changing requirements.
And speed was necessary to allow fast needle changing.
Traditional round valve bodies with ports positioned at 90deg did not allow efficient side-by-side mounting.
The standard three-way valve configurations were also not able to handle the wash cycle requirement.
They feature, in addition to a common port, one normally-closed and one normally-open port, both of which need to be open at the same time for the wash cycle.
Bio-Chem Valve was able to develop a small valve solution that was able to meet requirements.
The dual-solenoid, three-way valve features a rectangular body design with two ports opposite the common port, so the valves can be easily mounted side-by-side.
It is capable of switching on demand to allow independent operation of each inlet port.
The normally-open and normally-closed ports have four possible on/off combinations, offering the flexibility and speed to select desired pathway combinations for efficient, low cost flow switching and the wash cycle requirement.
The new valve also saves on power usage, circuitry and number of controls.
