BOC Edwards' new dry-vacuum pump system for use in areas classified as Zone 0 maintains maximum pumping speed even in continuously flammable atmospheres
BOC Edwards announces the launch of a dry-vacuum pump system for use in areas classified as Zone 0.
The new Zone Zero Package maintains maximum pumping speed even in continuously flammable atmospheres.
The package has been developed in-line with European safety regulation ATEX (directive 94/9/EC) which will become mandatory from June 2003.
Zone 0 is the classification given to ignition sources that occur during rare incidents relating to equipment.
BOC Edwards has worked extensively with independent test house ITS to develop and certify its Zone Zero Package to guarantee complete safety without inhibiting pumping performance. The Zone Zero Package comprises a Drystar DPS dry-vacuum pump which has the BOC Edwards patented claw mechanism.
This is supplied with two flame arrestors which are positioned at the pump inlet and exhaust to protect the process pipework, and two temperature sensors.
The flame arrestors have been designed to provide endurance burn containment for up to two minutes.
