Latest addition to range of rapid hygiene testing instruments provides a new way of making sure that hygiene monitoring equipment and procedures are working to the optimum specification
Biotrace, a manufacturer and supplier of rapid hygiene monitoring systems, has provided a new way of making sure that their customer's hygiene monitoring equipment and procedures are working to the optimum specification.
The range of Biotrace Positive Controls is the latest addition to the company's award winning range of rapid hygiene testing instruments and has been designed for use with all the company's main hygiene monitoring reagents, namely Clean-Trace, Aqua-Trace, Pro-tect and Multi-Trace.
By using the Positive Controls, customers can ensure their hygiene monitoring reagents are being used and stored correctly and that instruments are still within specification. The Positive Controls also offer a number of other benefits to existing Biotrace customers.
For example, they can provide a safeguard against obtaining false negative results which could lead to product contamination, and they can be used to validate previous tests carried out.
Instances when the use of Positive Controls can be particularly beneficial are when introduced as part of daily or weekly hygiene routines, when test readings are different from those expected, as part of an audit trail or as a hygiene training and induction tool.
Positive Controls can also be used to check whether liquid samples are quenching (ie reducing) the signal produced by the test.
Colin Hunt, product manager for Biotrace explains: "Positive Controls enable our customers to periodically check that their hygiene monitoring systems are working and are being used as they should.
They give confidence that monitoring and control systems are being effective.
In this way, Biotrace Positive Controls can really add value to a hygiene monitoring programme."
