Carl Zeiss has released a double video adapter/port replicator for its Axio series microscopes, allowing upgrading of existing equipment without component obsolescence
A port replicator is now available for use with the Axio range of microscopes from Carl Zeiss.
The double video adapter can connect on to an existing 'interface 60' turning a single port into a double port.
This allows a single port microscope to be converted to a double port unit without obsolescence of components or the replacement of the whole trinocular head.
In addition the port replicator has a switching module with two positions built into the tube position.
The first, which is fixed, gives 100% to the upper port and 0% to the back port, whereas the second position allows the use of a 'push and click' filter cube.
This allows the insertion of alternative beam splits and even selection by wavelength if dichroic reflectors are used.
Additionally the push and click cubes can accommodate barrier filters to further refine selected emissions. To compensate for the off axis positioning of the imaging device the upper connector has centration controls which allow for the two images to be perfectly aligned, particularly important for comparison of images or where multiple colour emissions are being checked for accurate overlay or co-localisation.
