Budget priced Greenough-style stereomicroscopes promise no compromises in quality, offering two switchable fixed magnifications with a 4x factor difference
The new stereomicroscopes being introduced by Carl Zeiss bring optical quality to the budget price range.
The DR models add to the already available Stemi DV4 but offer a lower starting price. No compromise has been made in build quality but modular optical shells have helped to reduce manufacturing costs and so make performance accessible to more users.
The Stemi DR1040 and Stemi DR1663 are Greenough style stereos with two switchable fixed magnifications with a 4x factor difference, making them ideal for overview and detailed examination.
They offer a working distance of 92mm with parfocal optics.
To keep the price competitive the models are available either as the optical pod with eyepieces included or complete with stand for transmitted light and incident light.
The DR 1040 as its name suggests offers a standard 10x to 40x switch, while the DR1663 offers 16x to 63x. These ranges can be modified by the addition of auxiliary lenses from the Stemi range - although an alternative stand may be necessary for some configurations.
With the appropriate battery pack, the Stemi D series can even be used in the field and a carry case is available for this.
With their unique and distinctive style a Stemi D series is a must have item.
