Alistair Steel, managing director of Rhodia UK, has been elected as the new president of the Chemical Industries Association
Alistair Steel, managing director of Rhodia UK, was elected as the new president of the Chemical Industries Association (CIA) at the association's AGM on 20 November 2003.
He succeeds Tony Bastock OBE, managing director of Contract Chemicals.
Most recently Alistair Steel has been chairing the CIA's steering group on the European Commission's Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals (Reach) proposals.
He is also a member of the Business and Trade Board and has been a member of the CIA's governing council for three years.
Commenting on his election, Alistair Steel said: " It is a great honour to be elected president and I thank all my colleagues on the CIA Council for their trust and support.
"I am looking forward to the challenge of driving forward changes in the ways our member companies operate to meet the legitimate expectations society has of our industry."
