GKN Westland Helicopters in Yoevil Somerset monitor many engineering parameters within their helicopters.
Currently they are using thermocouples and PTR sensors to monitor cooling system efficiency.
Many advantages have been gained by using the Datataker system as in the past GKN Westland Helicopters' engineers were occupied in taking and logging all measurements by hand.
The Datataker system enables them to set up their temperature probes, connect them to a DT500, and then continue with other tasks whilst the Datataker logger does its job.
GKN Westland Helicopters have built their own enclosure to house the DT500 data logger complete with channel expansion module (CEM), and mount this within the helicopter to continually monitor all the required parameters.
Connectors have been mounted on the exterior of the enclosure facia with easy access for download purposes.
The Datataker DT500 logger with 10 - 30 analogue channels, 7 digital and counter channels with expansion port for up to 2 CEM's, each with 10/30 analogue channels and a PCMCIA card for additiional memory.
The DT500 can also be used in a network of up to 32 Datatakers.
Sensor connection is direct with no need for conditioning.
Datatakers can log and monitor data to benefit all types of businesses, large or small. Facilities include easy programming, scanning of sensors, making instantaneous measurements and forwarding them to a computer in real time; applying sensor calibrations and carrying out statistical and other calculations such as average, standard deviation, maximum or minimum.
