Portable data recording kits, designed specifically for validation purposes within the medical workplace, meet HTM 2010 and HTM 2030 guidelines
A new family of specialist portable test kits from Eurotherm, based on the company's 4000 and 5000 series of data recorders, has been designed specifically for validation purposes within the medical workplace.
The kits, which contain all necessary probes and monitoring equipment necessary to meet HTM 2010 and 2030 validation requirements, will allow users to periodically validate performance of washers, washer disinfectors, sterilisers and autoclaves.
The kits each consist of a standard Eurotherm precision data recorder, with lightweight portable carrying case and all power supplies, transducers and fittings needed to carry out on-site validation to Department of Health standards.
There are four choices of recorder to suit different applications, including the 5100 or 5180V, Eurotherm's latest touch screen graphical recorders or the 4103C and 4103M (high specification 100mm paper chart recorders). The choice of recorder will provide the option of hard copy records and/or electronic data files recorded onto floppy disk or PC card, for later export to standard spreadsheet packages such as Excel.
The new kits are simple to operate, feature powerful software tools, and come complete with all necessary accessories, such as thermocouple insertion tubes, pressure transducers and connectors.
Software includes a maths package to calculate sterilisation data, disinfection time, detergent and neutraliser volumes.
This includes a Review function, which allows simple storage, duplication and review of recorded data in a PC environment.
Kits that utilise 5000 series recorders feature software which automatically reports test results, creating the quarterly reports required for HTM2010.
The software allows the test person to add data, provide a local display and create a tamperproof archive file of the results.
This file is transferred to a separate PC via ethernet or floppy disk and added to the Review database software provided with the test kit.
Excel is used to analyse the data on a read-only basis and puts the calculated values from the small load test into the appropriate fields of the report.
Other data collected during the test can be inputted into other fields providing a complete document.
The report can be printed and signed, stored for later use and e-mailed to others who may require it.
Customised reports can be created to suit individual needs and saved as templates for repeated use.
About HTM 2010 and HTM 2030.
HTM 2010 'Sterilisation' gives guidance on the choice, specification, purchase, installation, validation, periodic testing, operation and maintenance of the types of steriliser commonly found in the National Health Service.
It includes detailed schedules and procedures for tests and checks to be carried out for commissioning and performance qualification and for subsequent periodic testing.
Accurate and validated chart recorders of this type are a key requirement.
HTM 2030 provides similar guidance for of the types of washer-disinfector (WD) commonly found in the NHS.
