US companies have been limited in their ability to ship ruminant animal products for technical purposes since the introduction of EC 1774/2002
Haematologic Technologies (HTI), a manufacturer of blood coagulation proteins and reagents, has been granted approval by the USDA for being compliant with EC regulation 1774/2002 as currently amended, to export bovine, sheep, goat and porcine blood products to approved European establishments for further processing.
Since the introduction of EC regulation 1774/2002, US companies have been limited in their ability to ship ruminant animal products for technical purposes including pharmaceuticals, in vitro diagnostic test kits, and laboratory reagents. "While we still must ship only to approved facilities in the EU, becoming compliant with this directive is a major step at getting back to business as usual in Europe," said Robert Myers, HTI's business director.
