Lightweight solid state heat pumps utilise the Peltier effect for reversible heating and cooling, and can achieve temperature differences of up to 70C in a single stage
Hawco has added a new range of components to its heating and cooling product portfolio.
The TEC and TES ranges are thermo-electric or Peltier elements, as they are sometimes known. They are solid state heat pumps that utilise the Peltier effect for reversible heating and cooling.
They are very small, very lightweight and completely silent and, with no moving parts, extraordinarily reliable.
This makes Thermo-electric devices ideal for use in vending, laboratory, packaging, electronics and cabinet enclosure applications.
No compressor, pipework or evaporator is necessary.
During operation DC current flows through the device, causing heat to be transferred from one side of the device to the other creating a cold side and hot side.
A single stage device can achieve temperature differences up to 70C, or can transfer heat at a rate of 125 Watts.
To achieve greater temperature differences (up to 125C), two stage devices are available.
The amount of heat pumped through a device is directly proportional to the power supplied.
Hawco has also designed and manufactured a range of thermo-electric power controllers (or Peltier drivers) that can be connected directly to any temperature controller.
