Hitachi High-Technologies has introduced a new electron microscope demonstration facility linking all of its electron microscopy facilities through the internet
Global-I provides unique communication possibilities and consists of multiple Quartz PCI intranet image servers to form a powerful image and information database, searchable from any computer on the internet.
This opens up superb demonstration facilities for HHTC.
Whenever any clients' microscopy work is being carried out (whether a demonstration or applications work) the client can be assigned a unique username and password.
This gives customers the ability to view their images and associated information via the internet during or after the demonstration.
The Global-I project, however, also utilises a unique Collaboration Microscopy capability whereby the client can not only see their saved images, but also live images of the EM work being undertaken.
The remote observer can choose to view the live SEM image, lab camera, x-ray spectra and even chamberscope from any computer linked to the internet. This can be extremely useful if any parties cannot physically attend the demonstration.
In addition to its use within HHTC, Global- I is ideally suited to use in a number of organisations where microscopy laboratories or factories are remote from each other, to give improved communication of data, remote assistance and fault diagnosis.
