Utilises the latest in pH sensor technology to assess the condition and response time of the electrode every time pH calibration is performed
Hanna Instruments announces the launch of two new additions to its extensive bench pH meter range.
The new PH212 and PH213 meters answer the market need for true accuracy in the everyday laboratory environment and eliminate common calibration errors, says the company.
As with all pH meters, the pH measurement result obtained is only as good as the condition of the pH electrode used together with the accuracy of the most recent last pH calibration.
The Hanna Calibration Check system utilises the latest in pH sensor technology to assess the condition and response time of the electrode every time pH calibration is performed and can alert the operator of a poor condition electrode or buffer solution during calibration thus preventing errors in the calibration process.
A pH electrode, when properly manufactured and kept clean, will retain its physical characteristics for a long time, A common problem associated with pH measurements is the use of pH electrodes that have not been kept properly clean.
This greatly affects the accuracy of readings that can be obtained, as during pH calibration, pH meters 'assume' the electrode to be in a clean state (ie, as manufactured), and thus the standardisation curve created during the calibration process will remain the same until the next calibration.
These new Hanna pH meters automatically show you the condition of your pH electrode, thus removing this potential area of error.
The Calibration Check feature monitors the condition of the buffer solution and the pH electrodes bulb, slope and offset characteristics and indicates their individual condition via a 0 to 100% graphical readout that is incorporated into the LCD display of the meter.
Via these graphic displays the meter can prompt the operator to clean the electrode or change the buffer solution.
pH meters that do not feature the Hanna Calibration Check system allow calibration to continue, even if the electrode bulb is dirty, resulting in a poor calibration.
The resulting pH measurements will then be incorrect and can result in errors by as much as 0.2pH (not good when the operator has specified a bench pH meter which has a resolution and accuracy of 0.01pH).
In keeping with the Hanna philosophy of producing innovative products at existing market prices, the PH212 and PH213 cost no more than conventional bench pH meters, yet offer a real and very valuable benefit.
In addition to the Hanna Calibration Check system, the PH212 and PH213 feature last calibration date and data recall, real time clock, RS232 computer interface, log on demand of up to 500 readings and are supplied complete with pH electrode, temperature sensor, electrode holder, pH 4.01 and pH 7.01 high accuracy buffer solutions and electrolyte solution.
They are also covered by a five year manufacturer's guarantee.
