Testing specialist Indentec has designed two digital hardness testing machines to work automatically in materials testing cells for German and Spanish steelmakers.
Supplied for unmanned cells made by Zwick testing Systems, the microprocessor controlled testers are purpose engineered to accept specimens fed by robotic 'pick and place' mechanisms and make a series of Rockwell hardness tests at different points as the specimens are manoeuvred robotically on the test tables.
At the end of the sequence, the tester's built-in software automatically transmits test and specimen identifying data to the cell computer for processing and recording.
Both machines are upgraded versions of the Stourbridge Company's standard touchscreen Rockwell model 8150 SK.
