Autoclaves are precision engineered to completely enclose the product, exhaust air, and condensate within the system until the sterilisation phase is complete
Integra Biosciences, in conjunction with Fedegari, has introduced a new autoclave that provides complete inactivation of highly infectious pathogenic materials.
To facilitate complete inactivation of pathogenic materials, such as prions, High Pathogen Safe (HPS) autoclaves from Integra Biosciences achieve a high sterilisation temperature of 140C which corresponds to a working pressure of 4.7 bar.
HPS autoclaves have been precision engineered such that the system completely encloses the product, exhaust air, and condensate within the autoclave until the sterilisation phase is complete.
This guarantees no pathogenic material is released into the surrounding air.
In addition this comprehensive treatment means that no subsequent chemical treatment of exhaust air or condensate is necessary.
All enclosed materials are completely sterilised and can be disposed of as normal waste without the need for additional processing.
The new closed HPS autoclave system eliminates traditional exhaust filters totally removing the risk to laboratory personnel from defective or old filters.
Developed from the proven FVA/2 vertical autoclave series, the HPS series operate in accordance with all European safety standards including TRB 402, EN 292-1, EN 292-2, EN 50 082-2, IEC 801-2, EC 801-4, EN 50 081-2, EN 55 011, EN 61 010-1, EN 61 010-2-041 and EN 61 010-1/A.
In addition to providing the highest degree of protection for personnel and the environment, the new HPS autoclaves are also easy to operate and service.
An integrated steam generator reduces heat-up time by 50% compared to conventional methods, and an intra-cooler reduces cool down time by 60%.
The result is fast and economical operation.
