New approaches to the quantitation of drugs and metabolites in biological fluids (eg fast run-time LC-MS) have increased the need for high throughput methodologies to avoid the traditional laboratory bottleneck of sample preparation.
Solid phase extraction in a 96-well plate format such as Isolute-96 or Isolute Array is a solution to this problem.
International Sorbent Technology (IST) has produced a technical note that addresses solid phase extraction in the 96-well plate format. Many aspects of the technique are covered, including: SPE method development in 96-well format, transfer of methods from conventional columns, and optimisation of plate handling strategies.
