Web services framework enables enterprises to utilise core Lims functionality without the need to actually install the Lims software or develop specific interfaces
Starlims's web services framework enables enterprises to utilise core Lims functionality without the need to actually install the Lims software or develop specific interfaces between the Lims and enterprise systems.
This is achieved by publishing (or 'exposing') Lims functionality running sample tracking, results entry and quality analysis as industry standard web services.
A web service is a software system, whose public interfaces are described using XML, thus allowing other software systems to discover its definition and usage.
Web services interact between themselves using XML based messages.
Therefore the web-service based Lims functionality can now be controlled and consumed by arbitrary information systems dependent on such information such as procurement systems using laboratory findings to reject failed lots of raw material, or a logistics system that quarantines a failed batch of finished goods suspected of contamination.
