Speciality pate supplier Patchwork Traditional Food has considerably improved its weighing accuracy by installing Mettler Toledo's Speedweigh checkweigher and Viper scales
The new system has been installed at the Patchwork's premises in Ruthin, Denbighshire, where over 25 pates and terrines, including meat, fish, game and lentil pates and gourmet chocolate terrrines, are produced from locally grown ingredients. Due to the rapid growth of the company Patchwork Traditional Food required an upgraded weighing system.
Designed for fast, accurate weighing, Speedweigh static checkweighers have a range of capacities to meet a variety of applications.
Patchwork Food utilises the verified scales to checkweigh its final packs of products.
The Viper scales, available in two platform sizes and five weighing ranges with a maximum weighing capacity of 60kg, are used for weighing the raw ingredients delivered to the premises.
The rugged die cast aluminium housing is designed for all applications in an industrial environment.
After reviewing the other products available in the market, Patchwork Food decided that Mettler Toledo offered a cost effective, quality solution.
As Jenny Whitman, financial director, explains, "We chose Mettler Toledo because we were advised by another food company we are friendly with that they had less problems with their Mettler Toledo scales than those of a competitor.
They are easy to use, easy to clean and being able to put then into master mode to alter the sensitivity is a great benefit." Speedweigh checkweigher and Viper scales both have RS232C data interface fitted as standard which can be connected to a printer, second scale or PC.
The value for money product range and user friendly design ensures the scales are easily integrated into production processes.
