Distributor appointed for multi-platform sequence analysis software package and laboratory information management system
United Bioinformatica (UBI), a distributor of bioinformatics software in Canada, and Ocimum Biosolutions have announced that they have completed a distribution agreement for Gencheck and Biotracker.
Genchek is a comprehensive multi-platform sequence analysis software package that facilitates analysis of expressed sequence tags (ESTs), complete genome, and SNP (single nucleotide polymorphism) data.
Biotracker is a laboratory information management system (Lims) for improving laboratory performance. "Genchek is the only commercial desktop sequence analysis software with a modern database (MySQL), written in the industry standard Java language, that is priced right for the academic market," said Lindsay Moir, president of UBI.
Moir also said: "Biotracker is the most cost effective and comprehensive Lims system for the emerging biotech company that needs to manage its laboratory personnel and facilities better as it drives towards commercialisation of its drug discovery targets."
