Gas dryers protect moisture-sensitive equipment, and provide dry samples for gas analysis, helping to produce accurate and reliable results
The MD series of Nafion gas dryers by Perma Pure selectively remove only water from sample or carrier gases.
Nafion, a chemical modification of Teflon, is selectively permeable to water, but otherwise shares the chemical resistance of Teflon. Nafion tubing removes water vapour from gas streams while the rest of the gas sample passes unchanged.
The use of chiller/condenser, desiccant, and permeation dryers typically means water-soluble gases are lost during the drying process.
As the MD series of Nafion gas dryers remove water directly from the vapour phase, water-soluble gases are not lost through dissolution in condensate.
Water continuously escapes from the exterior of the tubing to a counterflowing purge gas stream.
The water content of gas streams can be reduced to dew points as low as -45C (only 75ppm of water).
The dryers have a low dead volume and operate over a wide range of temperatures, pressures and flow rates.
Drying is a self-regenerating, continuous process.
No routine maintenance is required as the dryers are ruggedly constructed yet light in weight, with no moving parts.
They have no power requirements, and very high corrosion resistance.
MD series Nafion dryers are available in stainless steel, fluorocarbon or polypropylene housing materials.
