Birmingham Children's Hospital has added a further ultrasound system for for a wide variety of clinical examinations, including renal, oncology, hepatology and paediatric surgery
The Radiology Department at Birmingham Children's Hospital has recently added a new HDI 5000 Sono CT to its four existing ultrasound systems, all from Philips Ultrasound.
Karl Johnson, consultant paediatric radiologist, said: "Our patients go from teenagers to neonates so the spectrum of probes available for this system was very important.
The hockey stick probe is particularly useful, especially for neonates.
Cineloop is also a very helpful feature for looking back at images of a wriggling child." "We perform ultrasound examinations for a wide variety of clinical specialities, including renal, oncology, hepatology and paediatric surgery.
The hospital is a major transplantation centre, with a large renal and a large liver unit, we are the only hospital to perform paediatric small bowel transplants - and we carry out many pre and post op checks for these patients." Karl concluded: "Options such as Sono CT and tissue harmonic imaging are very useful but the most important thing is the backup.
The applications specialists and engineers from Philips Ultrasound are very helpful and friendly. If we have a problem they will sort it as soon as possible."
