In order to meet increasing requirements for instrument cleanliness and to minimise cross contamination between samples, especially in case of accidental spillage, Nanosol has recently relaunched its range of easy to clean coatings.
The coatings are based on a proprietary Sol-gel based nanocomposite which incorporates fluorine groups in the polymer matrix to form a smooth, solid, glass like film on metal or glass surfaces.
These coatings were developed originally to provide a low wettability surface on the inside and outside surfaces of the hollow needles use in robotic sample handling systems for microtitre plates, etc, to minimise carry over and potential cross contamination of samples, the coatings have now been modified to allow application to large areas by conventional methods such as spraying or dip coating.
Also under development and available shortly is a bactericide containing coating, that not only improves cleanability, but actually reduces bacterial growth on treated surfaces.
