Among the new capabilities of this updated software is a process scheduler module used to schedule routine sampling and to monitor sample statuses throughout an organisation
PerkinElmer has announced a range of new capabilities for its Labworks ES laboratory information management system (Lims) software that significantly improve scheduling, organising and reporting of critical laboratory data.
Among the new capabilities is a process scheduler module used to schedule routine sampling and to monitor sample statuses throughout an organisation.
The process scheduler can flexibly define sampling groups based on time, frequency, sample locations, and type of analysis.
The new calendar view also allows viewing of timed samples in a monthly or daily format and the colour-coded system makes determining sample statuses easier.
Other additions include a sophisticated new query function that makes it easy for users to work with data in both Labworks and outside databases.
The new query function operates through an intuitive, graphical interface that is easy to navigate and does not require specialised database management expertise.
Users only see the information relevant to their specific needs and managers can limit information based on user authorisation.
"The new capabilities added to Labworks help to automate some of the most important ongoing tasks in any lab", said Stephen Delity, analytical solutions business manager for PerkinElmer Life and Analytical Sciences. "Saving time with sample-oriented work flow, more powerful analysis and reporting are top priorities for lab managers who need to maximise productivity and deliver secure, reliable results for better decision making.
"This Labworks update will meet the growing needs of users and managers in a wide variety of labs".
For alternative security procedures required in various labs, the Labworks logon can now be set-up for three authentication options.
New Labworks ES Lims automated reporting allows reports from samples logged into Labworks to be transmitted to the sample submitter's email address as PDF files.
Users can also request reports via the intranet or internet using the Crystal Enterprise software tool.
