Planar Systems has introduced a new dual-mode version of its VitalScreen high-reolution flat-panel display platform for medical equipment applications
The new VitalScreen platform is the first medical monitor that is designed to interface with both digital and analogue equipment. It features a 15-inch (38 cm) active matrix liquid crystal display (AMLCD), which offers high-resolution colour in a medical-grade package that is certified for patient proximity. The unit is a fraction of the size and weight of a standard CRT monitor, and is specifically designed for use in harsh medical environments.
A rugged acrylic cover protects it from rough handling and frequent cleanings.
In developing the VitalScreen platform, Planar has drawn from experience partnering with the top OEM companies in the medical equipment industry to design solutions to suit their customers.
The VitalScreen platform is engineered in such a way that it can be customised to meet specific manufacturers' requirements, and also excels as a stand-alone monitor for use in hospitals and clinics.
'The Planar team conducted extensive market research into the specific needs of medical equipment manufacturers, and we've developed a solution that suits a wide range of applications', comments Rick Phillips, vice president of Planar's Medical Business Unit: 'OEMs can rely on this system to optimise their time to market, count on our ability to customise the display for additional performance requirements, and rely on Planar's commitment to support the long product life-cycles and certification requirements of medical equipment.'
