Uninterruptible power managers are designed to safeguard critical medical electronics systems by providing protection against outages, surges and noise associated with 'dirty' power
BD has chosen Powervar's uninterruptible power managers (UPMs) to provide the power conditioning and protection for its Bactec, MGit and Phoenix diagnostic instruments in Europe. Powervar UPMs are designed to safeguard critical medical electronics systems by providing complete power protection against outages, surges and noise associated with 'dirty' power.
They offer uninterruptible power supply, power conditioning and total power management - all in one unit. The UPM is a line interactive back-up power supply, incorporating all the functions of Powervar's low impedance power conditioning technology.
By cleaning and conditioning the incoming mains power to electronic equipment it safeguards system integrity and protects components against degradation resulting from spikes and noise, to lengthen their operational life.
In the event of mains power being lost, the UPM uses its internal battery and microprocessor-controlled, digital inverter to produce a low distortion sinusoidal waveform for the protected load.
Even when operating from batteries, UPM systems provide clean, conditioned power by way of power conditioning circuitry. Powervar UPMs are available in five ratings: 350VA, 500VA, 800VA, 1100VA and 1440VA and in formats for 50Hz and 60Hz power environments.
The systems carry the manufacturer's five-year electronics and two-year battery guarantees.
