Prior has introduced a new Comparator Microscope to provide an affordable alternative to vastly expensive systems currently on the market
Prior Scientific markets a range of optical microscopes that are suitable for use in forensic applications.
This range includes biological and metallurgical compound microscopes, polarising microscopes and stereo microscopes.
Recently, Prior has introduced a new Comparator Microscope by combining two high quality stereo microscopes with video cameras and a "black box" to provide an affordable alternative to vastly expensive systems currently on the market.
The system enables two images to be aligned on screen and a direct comparison made.
It is possible to combine up to four video inputs and display them simultaneously.
The microscopes offer a zoom ratio of 6.5:1 and can give a total magnification of almost 200x.
A glide stage on each microscope allows easy and precise positioning of specimens. Feedback from launch customers indicates that this set-up is particularly cost effective for training applications along with routine analysis.
If higher magnification is required the EpiMet from Prior would also interface with the video system allowing comparison of polished metallic samples at magnifications of up to 1000x.
