Any form of essential document, such as standard operating procedures or health and safety data sheets, can be integrated into Lims with this module
QSI says its Document Control module is designed to integrate essential documents into any Lims application.
Examples might be standard operating procedures or health and safety documentation, normally held as PC files or even hard copy.
For example, the SOP for a rarely used method could be made instantly available when a sample specification is detected that requires it.
Similarly, if a particular type of sample presents specific risks or requires special handling precautions, the appropriate health and safety data sheet could be attached automatically to that sample. Documents can be in any format: spreadsheets, word processor files, or html files are all handled by the Document Control module, which can create and maintain a convenient central repository for all the documents used by the laboratory.
QSI has added special tools for document management not normally found in Lims systems.
For example, documents located on a server can be catalogued automatically into the document manager rather than registered manually.
QSI says it is probably the only Lims supplier providing integrated solutions for this type of ancillary Lims function rather than rely on third party products.
