Microbiology laboratories in the UK, Europe and the Middle East can now order, via their local distributors, all their Remel products from the headquarters of Remel Europe in Dartford, UK. In recent months Remel has been building up its warehousing capabilities and centralising its product ordering system, as part of a strategic development to enable improved customer delivery and local responsiveness.
Previously, only those products made in the UK, including Streptex, Staphaurex, Wellcolex and Wellcogen latex agglutination assays, were available directly, while other Remel products had to be sourced from Remel in the USA.
This new development means that users and distributors have virtually immediate ex-stock access to over 1800 additional products including the Rapid range for the identification of bacteria and yeast; Cultiloop QC and proficiency testing organisms; Prospect microwell Elisa assays for the direct detection of enteric pathogens in faecal specimens.
According to Brian Stammers, director of sales and marketing at Remel Europe: "The strategic thinking behind the establishment of Remel Europe was to build more than a manufacturing facility: there had to be sufficient capacity to enable the storage of US-made products under cold room conditions, as well as UK-produced products.
"We have now built up stocks and integrated the logistics systems to make it simpler for our 35-strong European/Middle East distributor network to order and track delivery of Remel products and better serve the customer base.
"Creating this one-stop-shop for microbiology products is a further representation of Remel's increasing commitment to developing and supporting the European/Middle East markets", he added.
