Myelin Repair Foundation selects content management software package to accelerate multi-site multiple sclerosis collaboration across five major universities
The Myelin Repair Foundation (MRF), a consortium of research scientists dedicated to discovering and developing effective treatments for multiple sclerosis (MS), has chosen the Scientific Software Enterprise Content Manager (ECM) platform for collaboration and secure document sharing among research scientists among five major universities.
The foundation's research team includes principal investigators from Stanford University, Montreal Neurological Institute at McGill University, Case Western Reserve University, Northwestern University, and the University of Chicago.
Like many geographically dispersed organisations, they are challenged with efficiently organising, sharing and distributing information on the latest discoveries and effectively collaborating to leverage their collective expertise.
Most of this research information resides in the form of electronic analytical laboratory data, biological images, and reports.
As such, a secure, centralised repository was needed to enable the collection, management, distribution, archiving, and retention of the information.
The Scientific Software Enterprise Content Manager (ECM) platform will provide this capability, along with features such as access control, versioning, check-in/ check-out, audit trail, records retention, and archiving to hierarchical storage management (HSM) devices.
The Scientific Software ECM system is designed to handle the type of information generated in over 80,000 research laboratories around the world. "The Myelin Repair Foundation is taking an innovative approach to research where new information and discoveries among researchers are shared in real-time" said Russell Bromley, chief operating officer for the Myelin Repair Foundation. "To accomplish this we needed a secure, yet easy-to-use solution to promote online collaboration while protecting electronic intellectual property.
"Scientific Software Enterprise Content Manager (ECM) provides our researchers with a proven, easy-to-use, web-based solution for total information and records management to help us accelerate collaborative efforts among our geographically-dispersed research labs".
"The Myelin Repair Foundation is a fast-paced, knowledge-intensive environment with a critical need to consolidate information locked away in various geographic silos, making it a perfect customer for our enterprise content management solutions," said Soheil Saadat, president and CEO of Scientific Software. "We're very excited about helping the foundation with its content and collaboration needs, and look forward to a long and lasting relationship."
