Software to control, collect, and refine

Sirius Analytical Instruments announces the launch of its new software product, RefinementPro 2 for pKa and logP processing. RefinementPro 2 is for users of Sirius's GLpKa, D-Pas and PCA200 instruments in pharmaceutical drug discovery and development.

It builds on the concepts introduced in earlier software (RefinementPro 1, pKaLogP, pKaUV), and introduces important new features including automatic refinement of data, turbidity detection using the UV probe, and 'Assay Planner', a new way to set up large numbers of samples for analysis from simple text input.

Automatic Refinement will correctly refine almost all data without manual intervention, providing huge time savings for technicians and users.

Automatic Refinement works for blanks and standardisations, pH-metric pKa and log P data, and for UV pKa data.

Turbidity detection by UV allows D-Pas users to detect when their pH-metric measurements of pKa may be out of spec because of precipitation, as well as providing the pH at which the unionised species attains its maximum concentration before precipitation.

Assay Planner will save time for high-throughput users of GLpKa instruments with autosamplers, allowing tray set-up from their own spreadsheets of sample information.

RefinementPro 2 further offers the flexibility of controlling instruments and collecting data with one PC and refining with another.

This can be pre-arranged according to the options chosen to be installed in the programme. The software can be up-dated and up-graded at any point of time with the addition of new plug-ins, the range of which will continue to grow.

Many data sets can be opened at the same time, allowing for easy comparisons using tiled and tabbed layout.

All the procedures take place in a completely customisable Windows environment.

Graphic options include clipboard, metafile and X,Y data and print options include export to PDF and print preview.
